No Stone Left Alone Memorial Foundation

An Idea, a Mission and Its Significance

Founded in 2011 by Mrs. Maureen G. Bianchini-Purvis and winner of the 2014 Gold Laurel Award for Innovation and Creativity of Alberta Not-For-Profit Organizations, No Stone Left Alone is a Memorial Foundation that works directly with our Canadian Forces, educators, and numerous volunteers to EDUCATE, ACT and HONOUR every sailor, soldier and airman and airwoman to ensure that younger generations will never forget their sacrifice.

Inspired by her own deceased parents who served the Canadian military in World War II, Mrs. Bianchini-Purvis was saddened at the sight of many soldiers’ headstones not bearing a red flower year after year as she would place a poppy on the stones of her own kin. A mission of the foundation then began to have at some point, all soldiers’ headstones in Canada recognized by the placement of a poppy – the symbol of remembrance – in ode to the image conjured by the well-known and celebrated verses of “Flanders Fields”.

In addition to this grand gesture, No Stone Left Alone wishes to educate Canadian youth to create an increased awareness and respect towards Canadian veterans and serving soldiers by inspiring a new generation of Canadians who recognize the sacrifice put forward by our Armed Forces.
