The 2016 Ford C-MAX Hybrid is a unique vehicle on the market, available as a Hybrid powertrain or a plug-in Hybrid (Energi) which offers the ability to charge the vehicle with any household electrical socket for up to 30 km of electric only driving before requiring the gas engine to power the vehicle. With its hatchback form factor and high seating the C-MAX offers a unique high seating position and excellent cargo capacity in a small compact package.
Under the Hood
The C-MAX is powered by a 2.0-litre Atkinson-cycle four-cylinder engine which is mated to an electric motor. Combined the power output of the C-MAX is rated at 188 horsepower when the battery is fully charged and a 129 lb/ft of torque. The C-MAX is only available with an automatic transmission, an electronically controlled continuously variable transmission that continually adjusts to ensure that the engine and electric motor are working in harmony for best efficiency.

The C-MAX offers a wide variety of technology to both entertain and improve ease of use and access. The C-MAX comes standard with Ford’s innovative hands-free liftgate that allows quick and easy access to the cargo area with a gentle kicking motion under the rear bumper, the same motion can be used to close the liftgate as well. On the inside the C-MAX offers features like SYNC 3, and intuitive system that uses a combination of voice commands and touch screen controls that allows the driver to control their smartphone for music and communications as well as control the available navigation and climate control settings.
Not only does the C-MAX offer a ton of standard technology to help entertain you, the entire vehicle is designed to provide the driver with a safe and efficient package to maximize their enjoyment of driving and provide assistance in safety situations. The C-MAX comes equipped with SmartGauge with EcoGuide, a system that allows the driver to see fuel economy readings on the instrument panel, while monitoring the driver’s behaviour to coach the driver to improve their habits for maximum fuel savings. Other features like park assist, a rear backup camera and front assist make maneuvering the C-MAX a breeze. While standard driver-assist technologies include Curve Control that is designed to slow the vehicle when it’s cornering too fast, and Torque Vectoring Control to help accelerate through a turn when necessary.
